Simulator-based usability tests are an efficient way to obtain timely and valuable feedback from clinicians of different backgrounds caring for a mannequin patient simulator in a clinically authentic environment. 

The Center for Safety, Simulation & Advanced Learning Technology (CSSALT) provides usability testing to industry with the goal of improving patient safety.   The interactions of the diverse participants with the prototype equipment are videotaped.  Up to 80% of opportunities for design improvement can be efficiently identified and highlighted, in as little as 3 days.  The information obtained from the usability study remains confidential and is turned over to the industry partner.
